Central Athletic Association of the Deaf (CAAD) held 80th Annual Men’s and Women’s Regional Basketball Tournament in Jacksonville, IL on March 21-22, 2025.
CAAD hosted 9 Men teams and 1 Women team over the weekend, Since there is only one Women team, CAAD has allowed Chicago Lady Bulls bypass to NDBO due to not enough Women team in tournament.
On Friday Men’s tournament kicked off with first round action, 8th seeded Wisconsin Wolves roamed over 9th seed newcomer Illinois Ultra Claw 111-39 to move on 2nd round, on top of bracket number 2 seeded Chicago CCD faced 7th seeded Chicago CCD Sword and defeated them by score of 50-43, 3rd seeded Newcomer Elite defeated 6th seed Pittsburgh Miners 78-35, 4th seeded Wisconsin Wolfpack fell to newcomer 5th seeded Naptown Hooisers 88-26, last game of the winner bracket saw a thriller game between number 1 seeded CBUS City Monsters and 8th seeded Wisconsin Wolves, the heated competition went wire to wire and Wolves came out quick fastbreaks to upset Monsters 68-55 to shock the community. On Loser Bracket Chicago CCD Sword handled Illinois Ultra Claw 70-35, Wisconsin Wolfpack defeated Pittsburgh Miners 47-28, CBUS City Monster avenged the loss and defeated Chicago CCD Sword 63-38, Monsters faced Wolfpack and defeated them by score 64-50 to capture a 5th place finish, Pittsburgh Miners defeated Illinois Ultra Claw 38-29 then defeated Chicago CCD Sword 42-37 to capture 7th place finish.
Semifinals game saw action between Elite and Chicago CCD turned out to be a heated match between both and Chicago CCD came out on top 56-48 to reach their champion game berth, uprising Wisconsin Wolves were ready to match Naptown Hoosiers and tied the game in halftime, Naptown Hoosiers found a way after adjusting in halftime, and roamed over Wolves with score of 62-52 to reach the champion game berth against CCD. Champion game kicked off with CCD versus Hoosiers, CCD showed up with Hoosiers in first half and tied the game, Naptown Hooisers were ready for them in 2nd half and went on a series of runs against CCD and defeated them 64-40 to capture first CAAD Title.
