AZ Monsoon and DSA wins FAAD Title

Farwest Athletic Association of the Deaf (FAAD) held 79th Annual Men’s and Women’s Regional Basketball tournament in Mesa, AZ on March 15-16, 2025.

FAAD hosted 10 Men and 2 women Team over the weekend, Arizona Monsoon and Phoenix Valley faced off best of 2 series, first game held on Saturday, AZ Monsoon defeated Phoenix Valley 45-27, on to the 2nd game AZ Monsoon again handled Phoenix Valley 38-20 to capture their second FAAD Women’s Title.

First round of Men’s Team saw action with Las Vegas facing off with Gatos and Santa Fe Zia against Rim Reapers, unfortunately the game was forfeit to allow Rim Reapers to move on to next round, Las Vegas defeated Gatos 62-55 to reach next round. 2nd round action kicked off with Los Luganerous losing to Monsoon 56-40, Number 1 seeded DSA defeated Las Vegas 102-55, number 2 seeded SSH defeated Rim Reapers 80-45, LACD defeated AZ-KY Blaze 79-46 to move on to semifinals. On the loser’s bracket, Los Luganerous handled Rim Reapers 56-28, AZ-KY Blaze and Gatos had a heated competition with Blaze escaping a 24-20 win to keep tournament alive, Los Luganerous eliminated Las Vegas 41-25 while AZ-KY Blaze moved on with Santa Fe Zia’s Forfeit. In the semi-final game DSA roamed in a win against Monsoon 82-46, in other semi-final game SSH and LACD gave a good game with SSH escaping a 52-50 win over LACD. For the 3rd place bracket LACD defeated Los Luganerous 65-51 while Monsoon handled AZ-KY Blaze with score of 49-30 to set a 3rd place game between LACD and Monsoon, LACD roamed into winning 3rd place finish with a score 61-37. In FAAD champion game DSA captured the title over SSH by the score of 89-61.
