Central Athletic Association of the Deaf (CAAD) held 80th Annual Men’s and Women’s Region Basketball Tournament in Hillard, OH on March 22-24, 2024.
CAAD hosted over the weekend with 13 Men and 3 Women team also 4 Volleyball Teams. Friday Women’s tournament kicked off with Round Robin games, Chicago CCD Lady Bulls rolled over Columbuzz 39-18 in first RR game, WSAD Warriors defeated Columbuzz in 2nd RR game, early Saturday saw action between Chicago CCD Lady Bulls defeated WSAD Warriors 27-18 to set the 1st seeding along with WSAD as 2nd seed and Columbuzz as 3rd seed.
3rd place game between #3 Columbuzz and #2 WSAD Warriors, Warriors had no problem winning the game to earn the Champion berth by defeating Columbuzz 23-9 giving Columbuzz 3rd place finish.
Champion game concluded on Sunday between #1 Chicago CCD Lady Bulls and #2 WSAD Warriors start off a heated battle though out the game until Warriors started to click and took the control of the game and captured their 4th CAAD Title.
Men’s Tournament kicked off on Friday with #8 Columbus Assoc. of the Deaf and #9 CBUS City Monsters “B” turned out to be a heated battle of the Columbus, CAD came out on top defeating CBUS B 44-41, #4 Madison handled game over #13 Chicago CCD Sword 47-21, #5 Wolfpack defeated newly team #12 Pittsburgh Miners 43-41, 2 new teams #10 Central States Maddogs based in Indiana met with Ohio Based team #7 Dublin Panthers, Maddogs defeated Panthers 48-37, Ohio based team #6 Interpreters of the Deaf Dragons fell to #11 Wisconsin Wolves 50-24. Elite eight game set with #4 Madison handled #5 Wolfpack 43-37, #3 CBUS City Monsters rolled over #11 Wisconsin Wolves 60-28, on friday evening ended with a thriller Overtime game between #10 Central States Maddogs and #2 Chicago CCD, Maddogs made a noise by upsetting Chicago CCD 41-38 to enter semifinal game, Saturday morning game #1 H & G Movers out matched #8 CAD 76-31. Semi-Final game kicked off with #1 H & G Movers had no problem defeating #4 Madison 60-26, #10 Central States Maddogs started off hot against #3 CBUS City Monsters in first half but Monsters came back in 2nd half but was short falling to CSM 50-46.
Consolation champion game concluded with #2 Chicago CCD defeated #7 Dublin Panthers
3rd Place game concluded with #3 CBUS City Monsters escaping win over #4 Madison 50-47 to earn 3rd place finish.
Champion game kicked off with battle of Indiana teams #1 H & G Movers with Robert Haney Jr and rising team #10 Central States Maddogs with Preston Kelly, game started off heated battle from start to end and a wild ending with score of 71-64 earning H & G Movers their first CAAD title.
