Nebowa and MinnePaul Walleye capture MAAD Title

Midwest Athletic Association of the Deaf (MAAD) held the 81st Annual Open and the 38th Annual Women’s Regional Basketball Tournament on March 26-28, 2026, at Olathe, Kansas.

MAAD hosted 8 men and 4 women teams over the weekend, Women’s tournament kicked off with round robin games with Pink Panther Vices lost to Nebowa 37-31, OAD (Omaha) defeated Des Moines Goldfinch 34-22, Pink Panther bounced back and defeated Des Moines Goldfinch 58-23, Nebowa easily handled OAD Women 46-19 to set the bracket settings with #2 Pink Panther Vices defeating #3 OAD 54-28 while #1 Nebowa handled #4 Des Moines Goldfinch 48-18 to set champion game berth. The 3rd place game saw action, OAD defeated Goldfinch 45-29 to capture 3rd Place finish. Champion game saw action with #1 Nebowa handling Pink Panther Vices 35-32 to capture MAAD Women’s Champion.

Open’s Tournament kicked off with first-round action #4 KC Legends defeating #8 Sleeper 73-31, #3 Des Moines Stags fell to #6 MinnePaul Loons 58-22, #2 OAD (Omaha) lost to #7 MinnePaul Walleye 78-46. Second round action saw #7 MinnePaul Walleye narrowly beat #6 MinnePaul Loons 67-65, #1 LAD (Lincoln) smothered #4 KC Legends 58-38, the quarterfinal game saw LAD edge MinnePaul Walleye 54-52 to earn a champion berth in the double elimination tournament, MinnePaul Walleye faught back to defeat KC Legends 46-34 to earn champion berth, KC Legends finished 3rd Place. Champion game saw rematch action between LAD and MinnePaul Walleye, and Walleye captured MAAD Open Champion.
